This World Oral Health Day, inspire your patients to Act On Mouth Health

World Oral Health Day is only a few weeks away!

The official theme of the 2019 World Oral Health Day (WOHD) campaign is Say Ahh: Act on Mouth Health. WOHD is celebrated every year on 20 March.

Say Ahh: Act on Mouth Health encourages oral health professionals to be ambassadors for good oral health and teach their patients how good oral care contributes to overall health and well-being. WOHD provides tools for oral health professionals to motivate their patients to take charge and safeguard their oral health.

How to get involved

Oral health professionals have an important role to play in addressing the oral disease burden and helping their communities Act on Mouth Health. FDI has developed campaign resources designed specifically for this group of stakeholders: informational posters to display in clinics, interactive checklists with oral health tips to share with patients of all ages, and oral health messages to spread on social media, to name a few. The WOHD resources are available at www.worldoralhealthday.org

To amplify the reach of the campaign, FDI encourages oral health professionals to connect with their National Dental Association to organize an event together on 20 March, celebrate on social media, and in their own practices. Everyone who submits an event on the World Oral Health Day Events Map is eligible to win a WOHD Award. For FDI members and student associations, the prize includes an expenses-paid trip to the 2019 World Dental Congress in San Francisco, USA.

Why celebrate World Oral Health Day?

The WOHD campaign provides an ideal platform to raise awareness and encourage commitments and action to promote good oral health. By leveraging thoughtfully coordinated efforts at the local, national, and global levels, the voice of the oral health community can be amplified in the lead-up to WOHD every year.

The growing burden of oral disease demands action on every level: individual, family and community. FDI is confident that simple, targeted action has the power to curb the prevalence of oral diseases and make oral health a personal priority for all.
