On 25 June, join FDI Global Periodontal Health Project experts Profs. David Herrera, Jöerg Meyle, Lijian Jin and Stefan Renvert for their live webinar called The road to achieving and maintaining periodontal health. This webinar is the first in a three-part series. The expert panel will update you on the latest research in periodontology and guide you through the essential steps for dental teams and patients to achieving and maintaining optimal periodontal (gum) health.

Periodontal diseases as one of the major global epidemics and health burden markedly affect oral health and closely link to systemic health/general wellbeing, with enormous socioeconomic impacts and healthcare costs.

A huge challenge facing general dentists is how to successfully manage periodontitis patients for predictable treatment outcomes and long-term health maintenance.

This webinar will provide an update on the latest research in the aetiology and pathogenesis of periodontal disease and the effect on systemic health. It includes an evidence-based session on screening for periodontal disease and informs participants how to apply the new classification of periodontal diseases. The webinar concludes with an introduction to the FDI Disease Profile Assessment Tool and Chairside Guide.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the latest research of the aetiology and pathogenesis of periodontal diseases and systemic consequences.
  • Understand the impact of periodontal diseases on quality of life for dental patients.
  • Understand how to carry out periodontal diagnosis: from screening to full-chart and how to apply the new classification system.
  • To be able to implement the FDI Disease Profile Assessment and Chairside Guide.
